this is a photo of the BMW boat that was built in Anacortes sailing in the San Juan Islands. Here is a link to the original newspaper article where I found the photo: Island Guardian.
It looks as though it has a hydrofoil on the main hull is out of the water. I imagine this would come in handy to skip over choppy waves that would slow you down.
One has to appreciate how high those guys are up off of the water. I estimate about 18 feet.
